[Video] ‘Food Farmacy’ in City Heights aims to bring nutritious food to underserved community

Eating a balanced diet is not always easy, especially for those who don’t have access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

A City Heights food co-op is bridging the gap between the farmers who grow produce and the underserved communities that don’t always have access to these nutritious foods.

“We call it the City Heights Food Farmacy,” said Ellee Igoe, the director of operations for the cooperative, on Wednesday at the co-op’s grand opening.

The prescription here is produce, and Igoe said, the Food Farmacy is a gateway to a “food is medicine” initiative……
