Findings In this cohort study with 6692 participants, receipt of SNAP benefits was associated with a nearly 14–percentage point reduction in nonadherence to antihypertensive medications among food-insecure patients with hypertension but not among their food-secure counterparts.
Meaning These findings suggest that SNAP should be further investigated as a potential intervention for preventing nonadherence to antihypertensive medications, especially among food-insecure individuals.
