Representatives James P. McGovern (MA-02) and Vern Buchanan (FL-16), along with thirty-three other members of congress, have released a bipartisan letter in support of Food is Medicine initiatives, including PRx with Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies appropriations bill, to the Appropriations Committee leadership. Included in their recommendations is support for the HRSA proposal to allocate $10M towards maternal produce prescriptions. “We have within our power the ability to lower diet related disease, improve health outcomes, and lower healthcare spending” Said Rep McGovern in his testimony to the Appropriations Committee.
