NPPC Statement on the House Committee on Agriculture Farm Bill

5/29/2024 –

The House Committee on Agriculture passed their farm bill out of committee on this day, NPPC had the following to say “As it pertains to the produce prescription program at USDA, the House Agriculture Committee clearly intends for this program to continue its rapid expansion in the healthcare setting, a goal shared by the NPPC. However, it falls short on several critical pieces that were included in the GusNIP Expansion Act of 2023, for example the enhanced research criteria that we believe will help facilitate the integration of PRx in the healthcare system far faster than any government report would be able to do. We strongly urge that the full detailed language pertaining to the PRx program within H.R.4856 be included in the final version of the farm bill in the House.”

On May 29th, NPPC Staff Director Brent Ling joined the Alliance for National Nutrition Incentives farm bill update webinar.
