NPPC Members Participate in Senate HELP Subcommittee Hearing on Food is Medicine

On May 21st NPPC members Erin Martin and Dariush Mozafarrian joined colleagues Jean Terranova and Carter Williams as witnesses for the Senate HELP Subcommittee Hearing on Food Is Medicine.

Erin shared this about the experience:

“The FIM movement is obviously gaining a ton of momentum. The HELP Subcommittee hearing helped establish the foundational need to create more federal opportunities to advance PRx and other proven interventions. The hearing was helpful to both Members of Congress and other stakeholders nationally, even internationally. Being a witness was a thrilling experience and one that I expect will create sustainable and even regenerative ways of thrusting this movement forward.”

And Dr. Dary Mozaffarian added:

“One of the most inspiring parts of the day was seeing the remarkable consensus on the power and relevance of bringing nourishing food into healthcare, regardless of the background or experience of the witnesses or the party affiliation or home state of the Senators. Food is Medicine is a concept whose time has come.”
