Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services publicly announced several Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) initiatives, and we’re glad to see Food is Medicine front and center in Indiana! 🎉
Part of Indiana’s RHTP work will incorporate food and nutrition pilots into rural communities’ healthcare availability, including a pilot initiative to deliver locally sourced, Hoosier-grown food for medically tailored meals and fresh produce prescriptions paired with telehealth-based nutrition therapy. Other initiatives include integrating nutritional support into maternal health programs.
Let’s hear it for Indiana! It’s great to see CMS prioritize healthy food as a driver of rural health.
