As need increases, this Southeast Minnesota food pantry finds ways to promote ‘social medicine’

EYOTA, Minn. — As a manager for the food pantry in rural Eyota, Deb Vosler regularly sees the interplay between food access, health and community.

Some of what she sees goes beyond nutrition: the free toothbrushes and toothpaste donated by local dentists, the mental health impact of receiving judgment-free help, the adult diapers on the shelf that can empower the seniors who need them to leave their homes and socialize more often.
